  • dr. Kevin D. glenn - Lead pastor

    Dr. Kevin D. Glenn began his ministry at Calvary in August of 2015. In his 23 years of ministry, he's served as a student pastor, worship leader, movie review writer, and consultant. More recently, he has been a contributor to local and national religious news outlets and authored the book, Hand Over Fist: An Invitation to Christ-Centered Civility. 


    Kevin is a graduate of Trinity College of Florida, Fuller Theological Seminary, and George Fox University, where he earned the Doctor of Ministry degree under the mentorship of Dr. Leonard Sweet.


    His hobbies include writing, reading, playing drums and guitar, fishing, running, and celebrating all things nerdist. He and his wife, Serena, have been married for 22 years and have two children.

  • Gregg Higgins - Worship arts pastor

    Gregg, his wife Cheryl, and their three sons have been part of Calvary since 2007. A native New Mexican, he grew up in Albuquerque and has served churches in New Mexico, Texas, California and Utah. Gregg serves as a worship leader, choir director, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and singer, songwriter/arranger. 


    It is Gregg’s desire that everyone who attends a worship service at Calvary would enter the presence of our almighty, awe-inspiring God through celebration, praise and the Word of God.

  • DR. BILL EASTWOOD - PASTOR OF SPIRITUAL FORMATION

    Bill has a long history of serving churches in areas of small groups and spiritual formation in various congregations, including Highland Baptist Church in Waco, TX; Antioch Community Church in Waco, TX; Vineyard Fellowship in Bloomington, IN; and Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia, MO. Small group leading has been essential for Bill in developing sensitivity and insight to others’ faith formation. “My most formative and rewarding realization as a small group leader was how important equitable friendship and compassion are to helping others grow in Christ.”


    Bill received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from Indiana University. As part of his doctoral research, he worked in the Eastern European country of Georgia, exploring the history and practices of that country's largest Baptist congregation, the Peace Cathedral.


    Bill is married to Jennifer, who is an assistant professor of anatomy at The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. They have two young children, Ashleigh and Andrew.

  • MiChaEL LuJAN - CoLLEGIATE MINISTER

    Michael (Mike) Lujan was born and raised in Las Cruces. He began attending Calvary in 2013, and was baptized in 2014. Mike has assisted in various roles at Calvary from acting as a youth group intern, core groups intern, and now finally spearheading the outreach to Calvary's college community. He has a passion for teaching at any level about any subject and was originally going to school to become a teacher before God changed his life trajectory.


    Before joining Calvary, Mike spent time as a football coach at Gadsden Middle/High School, and as a writer for the NMSU Athletics Department. He graduated from NMSU in 2014, with a degree in history and a minor in journalism. His hobbies include gaming, music, collecting action figures including Pop Figures, reading, writing, both playing and watching sports and collecting snow globes.

  • Nate alaniz - Student ministries pastor

    Nate began his ministry at Calvary in March of 2016. He came to Calvary from First Baptist Church Mansfield where he worked for 3 years as their preteen minister. Nate graduated from Dallas Baptist University with his bachelor's degree in Biblical studies and is currently working on his master's in Christian apologetics.


    Nate is married to Haley, who is a New Mexico State University Nursing School graduate and works as an ICU nurse in Las Cruces.


    Nate's hobbies include fitness, playing sports, watching college sports (specifically the Florida State Seminoles), watching movies, drawing, reading, music, traveling, trying new restaurants, and watching reality TV shows with his wife.

  • Heather Thatcher - Children's Minister

    Heather joined the CBC staff in 2002 and has been an active member since 1991. Heather is a native of Las Cruces with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from NMSU. Go Aggies! 


    Heather married her husband, David, in 1992 and has three wonderful children; Amber, Kimberly and Bryce. Heather’s hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping, running, softball and anything else that takes her outdoors. Heather loves adventure and trying new things, that’s why she works with children!

  • Gary Henderson - Administrator

    Gary has served Calvary Baptist Church as administrator since 1995, starting after his retirement from 22 years service as a pharmacist in the U. S. Public Health Service. 


    During that time, he has assisted in the areas of maintenance, insurance, finance, personnel, etc. Gary also leads a group of men who meet weekly on Thursday mornings to provide maintenance and building improvements to our campus. It is a tremendous blessing to work together with fellow men in making our church a safer, more functional, more comfortable place to worship. 


    Gary would tell you that serving is "An opportunity to give back for the many blessings the Lord had given me, and to use my administrative talents to serve the church. My purpose has been to relieve our pastors of many of the administrative duties required in a large organization, to allow them more time to pastor our congregation."

  • Kathy Armstrong - OFFICE MANAGER

    Kathy has been a publications/ministry assistant for Calvary since 2012.  She and her family have been members of Calvary since 2011.

  • Seth Powers - MEdia & Design

    Seth is an operative in the many facets of media, however his passions are primarily art and animation. Although Seth has assisted Calvary's video needs throughout the 2010s, he became an official staff member in 2015.


    When his duties behind the camera and Wacom tablet are fulfilled, Seth enjoys gaming, collecting retired Lego sets, and drumming.

  • ELISE URBINA - D:6 CHilDren's Ministry Assistant

    Elise has been the D:6 children's ministry assistant since 2011. She has 30 years of experience in children's ministry through teaching Sunday morning classes to various age groups, co-directing a preschool program in Colorado, and working with two and three year olds for five years during her time with Calvary's Kids-N-Christ Preschool, prior to becoming the D:6 children's ministry assistant.


    Elise and her husband Chris have two boys, three dogs, two cats, and two lizards. The Urbinas migrated to New Mexico in 2006 from Colorado via Washington State (the scenic route from northwest to southwest).


    Though Elise is currently studying for her Children's Ministry Diploma, in her downtime she enjoys reading, movies, crafting, spending time with her boys, and occasionally escaping them to go shopping.

  • Marian Archuleta - Worship Arts Assistant

    Marian began her career at Calvary in 1996 working primarily with the children’s ministry until 2011 when she joined the worship arts ministry. As the worship arts assistant, Marian keeps track of worship team scheduling, music selection, and weekly multimedia production for Sunday Services.


    Marian is happily married and a mother to 3 children, as well as two German Shepherds and two Belgian Malinois. In her free time she enjoys scary movies, singing, jewelry making, and dance parties.

  • CHloe LONG - Student Ministries InTern

    Chloe is currently a student at NMSU striving for a degree in communications disorders and will eventually study for her master's in speech pathology. She began attending Calvary in seventh grade and hasn't left since! Chloe graduated from Centennial High School in 2015 and was born and raised in Las Cruces. Chloe enjoys Zumba, camping, swimming, soap, and coffee.

  • JAMES HIGGINS - D:6 CHildren's Ministry & Worship Arts Intern

    The son of Gregg Higgins, James was born a rock guitarist. He now uses his musical abilities to lead the D:6 children's ministry worship on Sundays. He also works as a Youth Chapel tech,  and assists with the Worship Arts Production Tech team. James has volunteered at Calvary in every aspect of ministry since moving to Las Cruces in 2007 and began working as an intern in 2016. 


    Outside of Calvary, James is a gamer and renowned caffeinated beverage craftsman at Starbucks. He graduated from NMSU with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 2015 and is currently enrolled at Southwestern Seminary, studying for his master of arts in Christian education.

  • CALEB DEAN - STUDENT MINISTRIES WORSHIP INTERN

    Caleb was born and raised in Mansfield, Texas. He grew up going to church and was saved at a very young age. Caleb picked up guitar his sophomore year of high school and began playing with as part of the church youth band. Ever since then Caleb has seen God opening up doors for him to grow as a worshiper and a worship leader. 


    During his senior year of High school, Caleb's family moved to Artesia, NM and Caleb was given the opportunity to lead worship for his youth group. It is from there that Caleb moved to Las Cruces where he feels blessed to be able to be a part of worship on Wednesdays with the youth of Calvary. Caleb loves the opportunity to worship God and helping to provide an atmosphere in which the students can do the same. 


    Caleb is currently a student at NMSU and though undecided, hopes to decide upon a field of study soon. Caleb loves music, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and just living life.
