No. All money designated to Hurricane Harvey Relief will go to the 3 conventions surrounding the impacted areas to offer relief right away. The BCNM will forward donations every week.

Will my donation be used to deploy New Mexico Baptist Disaster Relief teams to impacted areas?

No. NMBDR is funded through the generous gifts of churches and individuals to the Cooperative Program and to the Mission New Mexico State Missions Offering.

Volunteering

Can I serve as a Disaster Relief volunteer for Hurricane Harvey Relief?

Yes. But, NMBDR volunteers must undergo basic training, pass a background check, and receive their badge to serve on a deployment.

Because of Hurricane Harvey, special basic Disaster Relief volunteer trainings are being planned across the state to supplement the 310 trained volunteers already available.

More volunteers are needed. The volunteer nature of Disaster Relief means that all volunteers are not available for every deployment and sometimes multiple deployments occur simultaneously.

How can you know when and where trainings will be offered?

Several options are possible. Talk with your pastor or church staff. Watch the Baptist New Mexican. Visit GoBNM.com regularly. “Like” the Baptist Convention of New Mexico on Facebook (BCNMatWork). Contact the BCNM (phone numbers below).
