Women's Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church

The goal of the Women's Ministry at Calvary is for women to grow in their relationship with the Lord through Bible study, prayer, worship, fellowship, mentoring, and serving others.

The purpose of the Women's Ministry Team is to support the women of Calvary in coordinating activities that pursue this goal.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith through love.

-Galatians 5:6

Who We Are

Here is some information on who we are! Here you'll find a little information about some of the ladies in leadership roles on our team and some of the ladies who are a part of our ministry.

Be sure to say hello if you see us at the church on a Sunday or Wednesday, we'd love to get to meet you!

  • Mary K.

Along with her husband Erick and four children, Mary joined Calvary in August of 2017. She has volunteered and taught in the children’s wing as well as led a blended family small group.

Mary is currently serving as the Chairperson for the Calvary Women’s Ministry team and is co-leading a Wednesday night small group. She has been a part of the WMU executive board since 2016 and has a heart for promoting missions and women.

Mary hopes to provide a healthy Women’s Ministry that allows women to grow in their relationship with the Lord through fellowship, discipleship, and serving others.

  • Judy r.

Judy and her husband Mike joined Calvary Baptist Church in 1991. In addition to Women’s Ministry, Judy helps with the Food Closet, Operation Christmas Child, Living Faith Ladies’ Sunday class, Wednesday night prayer group, and Intentional Friends Ministry.

Mike and Judy have three children, eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren in NM, KY, and NC.  They thank God for their family.

They praise God for his grace and faithfulness every day and are so glad to have been called to worship and serve our Father and Lord Jesus Christ with our brothers and sisters in Christ at CBC.

  • Laura & Sarah J.

Laura has attended Calvary for 31 years. She has been in service to the Women's Ministry since 2021, a member of the Saints Alive! class, Sean's Bible Study, the Kendall Life Group, and the Intentional Friends Ministry.

Laura has three children, two in leadership with Calvary's youth group and one in college. Her daughter Sarah, participates in the women's ministry and serves as a liason to the youth group, encouraging participation and relationship in our church activities.

Together, they desire to serve and minister to ladies of all ages at Calvary and our community. They would like to express their joy and gratitude to be a part of the Women's Ministry. The Lord continually provides exciting and new opportunities to serve, learn, worship and experience joy for His Glory here at Calvary.

  • Suzy F.

Suzy, a member of the Women’s Ministry Team since 2016, never misses an opportunity to make a difference.

Suzy was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.  As the oldest of three, she enjoys caring for others and is always willing to help.  She is passionate about advocating and caring for children in Foster Care.

Suzy has volunteered with the Children’s Ministry Team for 11 years. She enjoys participating in the yearly Children’s Camp at Sivells in Cloudcroft.

Suzy strives to love others in a way that will draw people to the heart of God but knows that love needs to be more than words. She often reminds herself of Paul’s dutiful words in Galatians 5:6 “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

  • Intentional Friends

Calvary's Women's Ministry participates in Discipleship in various ways throughout the church. One way unique to the Women's Ministry is Intentional Friends.

The Intentional Friends ministry reaches women right where they are and helps women become who God designed them to be.

Based on Titus 2:3-5, women invest in each other’s lives with encouragement, guidance, listening, laughing, and loving. The goal is to form strong, lasting relationships among women of different generations that are a source of support, growth, and strength.

While there is an intentional push in January, Intentional Friends runs all year! If you have questions or would like to know more you can contact our front office at cbcoffice@cbclascruces.org

  • Operation Christmas Child

Every year, Calvary participates in Operation Christmas Child!

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) delivers over 10 million shoeboxes filled with practical items, gifts, and the Gospel message to children in over 100 countries. Last year over 4 million shoebox recipients participated in the 12-lesson discipleship program “The Greatest Journey.”

OCC is a mission project of Samaritan’s Purse. This nondenominational, evangelical Christian organization provides spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.

Calvary Baptist Church supports this hands-on ministry by putting together and sending shoeboxes. Our Calvary members generously donate various items throughout the year. Children, Youth, College-age, and Adults participate in Prep & Packing Parties for several months before the October deadline to turn in shoeboxes. Our Calvary women help support and organize this exciting opportunity to help others.

    Anyone is welcome to participate!

  • COnferences and Special Events

The Women’s Ministry Team's goal is to welcome, encourage, and motivate women from both Calvary Baptist Church and the surrounding area by providing women’s events/mini-conferences each year.

Our WMT hosts various events throughout the year. You can see their next upcoming event down below, or you can visit our Events Page to see everything coming up for the WMT and Calvary as a whole.
